His Oncology training was undertaken in the West of Scotland and completed in 2014. His NHS practice covers Ayrshire and Arran and he specialises in the non surgical management of prostate, bladder and colorectal cancer. These treatments include chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy as well as targeted therapy.
Dr MacLeod regularly peer reviews journals being considered for publication for national and international journals. He is Clinical Expert Adviser for the Scottish Medicines Consortium and also peer reviews articles for Health Improvement Scotland.
Dr MacLeod has a particular interest in clinical research and is the Principal Investigator in several key national and international clinical trials in colorectal, prostate and bladder cancer.
He has pioneered the introduction of IMRT and IGRT for the treatment of bladder cancer at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. In addition to this research interest, Dr MacLeod is also active in teaching and training and is the team trainer for Uro-Oncology trainees.
