Personal Profile

I qualified as a Doctor in 1995 and completed Specialty training as a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine in 2007.

My NHS base is in Stockport. I have worked in the private sector since 2008 and have established close links with Neuroscience. Most of my work is interventional, treating lower back pain, sciatica and neck pain.

Areas of interest

My practice is primarily spinal related pain, and I have considerable experience in injection-based treatments for lower back pain and sciatica. I also undertake epidural injections in the neck for trapped nerves.

NICE guidance is now directing us towards radiofrequency denervation procedures for lower back pain, and I have become very experienced at these procedures for lumbar facet joints and sacro-iliac joints.

The use of medicines to help control pain is changing a lot, especially in persistent (long-term) pain conditions, where certain types of drugs are being used much less (opioids). I follow this evidence-based approach and can review pain medications accordingly. Please bring along your prescription.

Please contact my secretary if further details needed.

Additional Information

Interventional pain management at Consultant level since 2007.

I have extensive experience in pain medicine interventions, undertaking over 200 injection-based treatments each year. My expertise allows me to understand patients pain and assess their condition to advise on injection-based treatments and how they might reduce symptoms.

I have close links with Neuroscience with access to fortnightly Multidisciplinary Spinal Team meetings where we can discuss cases and advise on best management.
