Personal Profile

Neha Parekh is a highly experienced and passionate Specialist Bariatric, Weight Management and Diabetes Dietitian working in the NHS and in the private sector. In her 10 years experience, she has worked with many patients to help them improve their health and well-being, having worked in Birmingham, Coventry, Warwickshire and more recently in London. 

Neha currently works in private practice as well as the Lead Diabetes Dietitian for London North West Health Care Trust (LNWH). 

In independent practice, she works to prepare and support patients undergoing Bariatric surgery and supports those who require assistance with weight loss without surgery, using an evidence-based approach. Neha helps support patients to build lifelong healthy habits, giving them the tools and support they need to eat better, shift their mindset and create a lifestyle they love. Neha is able to educate patients on different types of Bariatric surgery (Gastric band, Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass and Gastric Balloon), as well as provide support and assistance on pre-operative and post-operative diets. Neha is one of a small number of Dietitian’s in the county who is qualified in adjusting gastric bands. She also provides follow up care to patients who have had Bariatric surgery abroad or are out of their care package.

Her role at LNWH Trust is to provide a highly specialist clinical Dietetic service to patients with Type 1 diabetes, complex Type 2 Diabetes patients, antenatal patients and young adults. She is DAFNE trained (Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating) and delivers carbohydrate counting and other diabetes education to patients within group settings and within the outpatient clinic setting. 

Neha is also experienced and comfortable caring for patients with a range of other diet-related conditions including; high cholesterol, high blood pressure, gout, heart health.

She maintains her skills in advanced neuro-linguistic programming, behaviour change, motivational interviewing and counselling skills.

Upon graduating in 2010, Neha was appointed by Birmingham Community Healthcare Trust as a Weight Management and Nutrition Support Dietitian. After this, she was appointed as a Specialist Bariatric and Weight Management Dietitian at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. 

Neha’s research interests centre around Obesity, Diabetes and Bariatric surgery. She has written and contributed to a large number of research papers and have also had the opportunity to speak nationally on the dietary management of bariatric surgery as well as the management of Diabetes medication in the pre, peri and postoperative period.
