Personal Profile

Dr Neha Chopra is a consultant medical oncologist at the Royal Free Hospital and Barnet Hospital, with over 10 years of experience in oncology. She specialises in the management of early and advanced breast cancer, with expertise in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and hormone therapy. Her clinical interests include triple-negative breast cancer and breast cancer genetics.

She is the clinical lead for oncology and palliative care at the Royal Free Hospital, where she leads the team in responding to the evolving needs of cancer services and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Chopra is actively involved in breast cancer research. She recruits patients to Phase II and Phase III breast cancer clinical trials and has worked as a principal investigator on research studies and Phase II clinical trials. She has a particular research interest in triple-negative breast cancer and breast cancer genetics and was the lead for the BRCA-DIRECT study at the Royal Free Hospital.

Dr Chopra regularly attends national and international oncology meetings, enabling her to remain up to date with emerging research, developments in breast cancer treatment and advances in clinical practice. She has also been invited to speak at national and local breast cancer meetings, sharing her expertise with other healthcare professionals.

Education and training are also an important part of her work. She has previously served as the undergraduate lead for oncology at the Royal Free Hospital and Barnet Hospital for University College London (UCL) medical students. She is an educational supervisor for postgraduate trainees and is a member of the Question Writing Committee for the Specialist Certificate Examination in Medical Oncology.

Dr Chopra qualified in medicine from the Royal Free and University College London Medical School. She subsequently undertook specialist training and completed an MD(Res) focused on early triple-negative breast cancer while working as a Cridlan Clinical Fellow at The Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research.

She also holds a postgraduate certificate in medical education and is an honorary clinical associate professor at University College London. Her combination of clinical practice, research and medical education enables her to bring current evidence and developments in breast cancer care into her work with patients.

With extensive experience across clinical oncology practice, research and education, Dr Chopra is committed to providing personalised, evidence-based care for people with breast cancer, supporting patients through diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management.
