About Dr Nawaz Walji

Personal Profile

Dr. Nawaz Walji was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist in March 2010. He specialises in the non-surgical treatment of early and advanced breast and gynaecological malignancies, utilizing systemic therapies such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biological therapies, and endocrine therapy, as well as radiotherapy and brachytherapy, including interstitial brachytherapy for the treatment of cervical cancer.

He is the author of the West Midlands Radiotherapy Guidelines for the treatment of cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, and cancers of the vulva and vagina. These guidelines have been ratified by the West Midlands Radiotherapy Expert Advisory Group for use across the region. Additionally, he contributed to the development of the West Midlands Radiotherapy Guidelines for the treatment of breast cancer.

Dr. Walji serves as the Clinical Lead for radiotherapy at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. He is an active member of the West Midlands Radiotherapy Expert Advisory Group and the West Midlands Brachytherapy Steering Committee.

As a Principal Investigator for several clinical trials, he remains committed to advancing oncology research. He meets the CPD requirements set by the Royal College of Radiologists and regularly attends national and international conferences to stay up to date with advancements in clinical practice, ensuring that his patients receive the most effective and contemporary treatments available.

He is also deeply passionate about post-graduate medical education. He has previously served as the Chair of the Specialist Training Committee and Training Programme Director for Clinical Oncology in the West Midlands. Additionally, he contributed to the development of the 2021 Clinical Oncology Curriculum as part of the Specialty Training Board at the Royal College of Radiologists.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Walji enjoys playing badminton, cooking, and traveling to different parts of the world.
