About Mr Naffis Anjarwalla

Personal Profile

Mr Naffis Anjarwalla is a Consultant surgeon specialising in spinal surgery. Having graduated from Oxford University and finished his medical training at St Thomas’ Hospital in 1993, he continued his surgical training on the Charing Cross Hospital surgical rotation in London and Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. Subsequently, Naffis completed his postgraduate research gaining an MS at Imperial College. He then completed his orthopaedic training on the North West Thames rotation and undertook a Spinal Fellowship in Adelaide with Professor Robert Fraser. Naffis has been a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at Heatherwood and Wexham Hospitals since 2006. His specialist interests include the management of cervical, thoracic and lumbar degenerative disorders and spinal injury. He continues research into the understanding of spinal problems and teaches trainee doctors. He works as part of a multidisciplinary team aiming to treat peoples back problems. He has been the President of the Society of Back Pain Research and continues to represent the UK within the European Spine Society

Naffis believes that not everyone needs to have an operation and can often be managed with treatments that are not invasive. He will see and assess you and ensure that he is able to understand what the problem is and explain this to you. Following discussions you should have a plan for you to improve and treat the problem that you have. He is skilled in a range of spinal treatments including minimally invasive procedures and can treat problems of trapped nerves, disc problems, trauma, worn joints, instability and sport related problems. He will be happy to discuss these in detail with you as he thinks it is important that you are always fully informed of your treatment and what other treatments are available.

Mr Naffis can see and consult on children of all ages. Whilst most young children can be managed without surgery, when it is required, he undertakes this at The Princess Margaret Hospital for children aged 3 and above.
