After doing his internship and medical resident training in Lahore, he moved to the UK in 2001. Here, after passing the MRCP UK examination, he entered the specialist training programme in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine in October 2003.
Rotating through 7 different hospitals in 3 different regions of the UK, he completed his training in December 2009. During his training, he worked at tertiary referral centres including Freeman Hospital Newcastle, Bristol Royal Infirmary and St George’s University Hospital in London.
He was granted the CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Gastroenterology and GIM in January 2010. He was elected as fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in March 2011 and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in June 2013.
Since 2015, he has been working as a Consultant in Gastroenterology at the Royal Oldham Hospital, which is part of Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust. He is the Clinical Lead for Endoscopy and has the additional role of Endoscopy Training Lead. He has an ongoing commitment to teaching and training of both under and post-graduate medical trainees.
