Mr Mriganka De is a Consultant ENT Head & Neck Surgeon with more than 15 years of consultant experience based at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. He provides all his patients a personalised service supported by the best available evidence-based treatments.

He offers outpatient and inpatient services for general ENT and specialist treatment for complex head & neck problems and leads ENT head and neck/thyroid service (largest ENT department in the country) at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. He has one of largest practice of minimally invasive head and neck surgery practice including transoral Robotic surgery (TORS) and transoral laser microsurgery practice in the country. 

As Associate Medical Director Corporate Governance, Mriganka De is responsible for multiple trust level Governance projects. He has shown his leadership quality in driving some of complex multi-speciality projects with dedication, ability, and inspiration to his colleagues.

Mr De completed his basic surgical training in South Wales and higher surgical training in ENT Head  & Neck surgery in the West Midlands, followed by Advanced Fellowship in Head & Neck Oncology. He has been a Senior Research Fellow at University of Birmingham for 3 years. His research was ‘role of epigenetics in head & neck cancer’. Previously he has practiced at Royal Derby Hospital for over 7 years, before coming back to Birmingham.

He has an extensive clinical, research, education, and management experience including over 40 peer reviewed publications, over 20 abstracts in peer reviewed Journals, 10 book chapters, 4 research grants (small), more than 20 invited lectures and over 100 National/International presentations. He is founder and director of the Midlands Minimally Invasive Surgery (transoral robotic/laser) course and faculty of multiple National and International conferences and courses.

As a tertiary level Consultant at University Hospitals Birmingham in ENT Head & Neck Surgery, he is responsible for clinical and surgical training of higher surgical trainees in all aspects of specialist Head & Neck surgery and General ENT.
