About Mr Minak Bhalla

Personal Profile

Mr Minak Bhalla is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon specialising in glaucoma and cataract surgery, with advanced fellowship training from Moorfields Eye Hospital, one of the world’s leading eye centres. 

He completed a two-year Glaucoma Surgical Fellowship, during which he served as Senior Lead Fellow, working closely under the mentorship of internationally recognised glaucoma surgeons. During his training in the prestigious North London Ophthalmology Deanery, he was appointed Chief Resident at the Western Eye Hospital and gained extensive experience across major tertiary referral centres, including Moorfields Eye Hospital. 

Mr Bhalla has a strong commitment to education, research, and clinical innovation. He is the recipient of national research awards, has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters, and has presented his work at major national and international ophthalmology meetings. He has also co-developed an educational ophthalmology app supporting resident training and examination preparation, and continues to mentor junior colleagues across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including FRCOphth training pathways. 

Alongside his UK-based clinical practice, Mr Bhalla remains actively engaged in global ophthalmology and international collaboration. He contributes to postgraduate training initiatives and collaborative research projects overseas, with a particular focus on building sustainable glaucoma services through education and surgical training partnerships.
