Mr Fernandez is a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at Droitwich Spa Hospital, alongside his NHS practice at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. He offers specialist assessment and treatment across the full range of foot and ankle conditions.
Mr Fernandez graduated from UCL Medical School in London with Merit, where he was awarded the Fitton Prize in Orthopaedics. He completed his surgical training in the West Midlands and went on to undertake several prestigious fellowships in the UK, including at Fortius Clinic London, Exeter, and Southmead Hospital in Bristol. These fellowships allowed him to develop advanced expertise in minimally invasive surgery, including bunion correction, ankle arthritis, sports-related foot and ankle injuries, arthroscopic procedures, and complex trauma. He was also awarded a British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Travelling Fellowship, further enhancing his specialist experience at the Limb Reconstruction Centre in New South Wales, Australia.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Fernandez has a strong interest in research. He has contributed to UK multicentre clinical trials and published in several high-impact medical journals. He is currently the Research, Audit and Quality Improvement Lead at Worcester Royal Hospital and an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Warwick. He also acts as a peer reviewer for a number of respected scientific journals, including The Foot, The Bone & Joint Journal, and Injury.
Outside of work, Mr Fernandez enjoys spending time with his family and staying active through running and gym training. He has completed the London Marathon (by his own admission, at a steady pace) and several half marathons. Earlier in life, he represented Great Britain in full-contact karate, competing internationally.
