About Dr Michelle McNeil

Personal Profile

Dr McNeil qualified with medical degree from the University of Dundee in 2009. She went on to complete her training as a junior doctor in Dundee and Forth Valley, obtaining her membership examinations for the Royal College of Physicians in this time before commencing Dermatology training in 2014 in Aberdeen. Over the next 4 years she completed her training and passed her Royal College of Physicians Dermatology Speciality Certificate examination before entering the GMC Specialist Register and taking up a Consultant post in Aberdeen in 2018.

Dr McNeil is currently Dermatology Clinical Lead for NHS Grampian and within the NHS manages patients with inflammatory dermatoses and has a specialist interest in contact allergy. She leads the Contact Allergy service within the NHS and undertakes patch testing clinics monthly. Dr McNeil also assesses skin lesions and skin cancer and can undertake surgical removal of lesions under local anaesthetic. She is involved in the local skin cancer MDT and also set up a once monthly Cutaneous Lymphoma clinic with links to haematology. She attends Dr Grays Hospital, Elgin monthly to provide more local care to patients living in this area.

Dr McNeil teaches both junior doctors and medical students regularly and has also delivered educational sessions to dental students, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, off shore medics and General Practitioners. She is currently co-editing the Dermatology chapter of Medicine.

Locally she is involved in audit and quality improvement projects and is dedicated to service improvement. She attends regular courses, conferences and evening educational events to ensure she remains up to date with current research and guidelines in the management of skin disease.
