Michelle qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1985 having completed her training at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
Throughout Michelle’s career she has striven to develop herself through post-graduate learning, to offer a high quality of care for her patients. Her postgraduate training includes a Masters Degree in Sports Injury and Physiotherapy with research into knee problems and she has also completed two further MSc modules in Advanced Practice in Physiotherapy. Further post-graduate training was also undertaken in 2011 in Acupuncture, a useful adjunct in treating low back pain together with an APPI Pilates course.
Michelle is also qualified to use specialised equipment such as Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy, a useful adjunct to rehabilitate chronic problems especially plantar fasciitis and lower limb tendinopathies.
Michelle’s clinical specialities include lower limb injuries and orthopaedic hip and knee surgery and having worked as a clinical specialist in this field, Michelle was invited to join a specialist team in Indianapolis, USA, with Donald Shelbourne, a world leading practitioner in ACL injuries, where new techniques for ACL reconstruction are developed.
Since qualifying Michelle has worked in both the NHS and private sector and with both amateur and professional sports teams. Michelle has worked as a senior physiotherapist in Outpatients at The Chiltern Hospital since 2009.
When not working, Michelle can be found walking or cycling and generally enjoying the outdoor life.
