About Michael Colin Bater

Personal Profile

Mr Bater was jointly appointed as a consultant to the Royal Surrey County Hospital and the Basingstoke and North Hants Foundation Trust in December 2009, having previously undertaken the post in a locum capacity for 16 months. He undertook specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery on the South Coast Training programme, and is on the specialist lists for both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (held by the General Medical Council) and Oral surgery (held by the General Dental Council).

Mr Bater is the author and co-author of numerous publications in specialist journals, and has presented research papers at national and international meetings. He has served as an elected trainee member on the specialist advisory committee in oral and maxillofacial surgery. As part of this role he has presented to the Postgraduate Medical Education Training Board review into the future of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Mr Bater is a committed teacher and trainer, and regularly delivers educational talks to local and dental and medical practitioners. He frequently instructs students as part of the Advanced Trauma and Life Support programmes.
