Personal Profile

Dr Shah was born in Tanzania and migrated to the UK as a child. He trained at The London Hospital Medical College (now part of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry) and undertook his professional training in hospitals in NE London. Working in the NHS, he was appointed a partner at The Grove Surgery (now called The Grove Medical Centre) in 1989 and became the senior partner in 2001. This is a teaching practice for undergraduates at the King’s College School of Medicine and a training practice for the foundation year trainees and GP Registrars. Dr Shah is the approved trainer for both the foundation year trainees and the GP Registrars. He is also an approved GP Appraiser for general practitioners. Appraisals are a mandatory requirement for the five yearly GMC revalidation process. He has served in senior leadership roles as Clinical Director of The Waltham Forest Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) from 2012 to 2019, with lead responsibilities for the IT and Digital Strategy, Cancer Care Performance and Medicine Management.

Working in the independent healthcare sector, Dr Shah is the Medical Director at Lotus Healthcare, a company established in 1991. Lotus Healthcare provides the full range of general medical practice services for adults and children, including arrangements for diagnostic tests and referrals to appropriate specialists and allied health professionals.

The health screening programmes are customised to meet the requirement of the different age groups and individual medical history and cover a full medical history and physical assessment, hearing and eye tests, diagnostic tests to identify the risk factors for cardiovascular disease and early signs of the common cancers. Following the health screen, a report with the recommendations and action plan is sent to the individual. 

Medical examinations for employment, insurance, immigration, sporting activities and occupation related, e.g., public carriage driving licence.  Medico-legal assessment for personal injury and clinical negligence. Dr Shah is an approved independent expert witness for personal injury cases. Acupuncture services for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, e.g., neck and back pain, joint pain, painful periods, 

Working in the charitable sector, Dr Shah has served as a Trustee at Diabetes UK and The Diabetes Foundation. In recognition of his efforts in raising diabetes awareness in the Asian community, he was awarded The Ray of Light Award by The Surya Foundation.

He currently serves as a Trustee at The BAPS Swaminarayan Temple (Neasden Temple) with a lead role in all its Outreach activities including the widely recognised health awareness and screening programmes and the charity partnerships with most of the national charities.

Life outside the profession, enjoys keeping fit and has undertaken: 

  • The National Three Peaks Challenge
  • The Annapurna Base Camp Trek raising funds for Sense International, a charity which supports people who suffer from deafblindness.
