Personal Profile
He qualified from University College London (having primarily trained at the Royal Free Hospital) in 2005 and undertook his respiratory speciality training in the North West Thames Respiratory training programme, rotating via the Royal Free, Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, Harefield, Barnet, Northwick Park and Watford General hospitals. He also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Allergy Medicine at Imperial College London.
Dr Knight leads the Pleural Diseases and Unexplained Breathlessness services at Watford General Hospital, and participates actively in research into these areas. He regularly performs pleural procedures and bronchoscopy procedures and he supervises and performs cardio-pulmonary exercise tests on a weekly basis. He is actively involved with the specialist training and education of junior doctors.
Dr Knight manages patients with a wide range of respiratory problems, but has a particular interest in the following areas of Respiratory Medicine:
- Unexplained Breathlessness
- Cough
- Pleural diseases
- Asthma and Respiratory allergies
- Recurrent chest infections
- Sleep Apnoea
- Lung cancer (diagnosis and screening)
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Dr Knight works closely with colleagues in Respiratory Physiology, Cardiology, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Radiology and Thoracic surgery to ensure that patients treated by him receive the best possible care. In particular Dr Knight works closely with his colleagues at The Chest Clinic, who see patients across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and north west London.
