About Mr Martin Stuart Wadley

Personal Profile

Mr Wadley is a highly experienced Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgeon whose main clinical practice is based at Droitwich Spa Hospital. He also works within the NHS at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the Specialist Upper GI Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

He graduated from University of Sheffield Medical School in 1990 and completed his surgical training across London, Nottingham, and the West Midlands, gaining broad experience in general and specialist upper GI surgery.

He was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in 2002 and has been working within the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital Specialist Upper GI Unit since 2006, where he manages complex upper gastrointestinal conditions.

His main clinical interests are in upper GI surgery, with a particular focus on the diagnosis and treatment of upper GI cancers, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), gallstone disease, and obesity-related conditions. A significant proportion of his work is performed using minimally invasive (keyhole) surgical techniques, which support faster recovery and reduced post-operative discomfort.

He has extensive experience in laparoscopic procedures, including keyhole surgery for gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy), hernia repair, and anti-reflux surgery. More recently, he has developed advanced minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of oesophageal and gastric cancers, offering patients access to modern surgical approaches designed to improve outcomes and recovery times.

Through his private practice at Droitwich Spa Hospital, Mr Wadley provides expert, patient-centred care in all aspects of upper GI surgery, combining extensive experience with advanced laparoscopic techniques to deliver high-quality surgical outcomes.
