About Dr Mark Davies

Personal Profile

Dr. Mark Davies gained his MB BChir in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Cambridge, and prior to Medicine he completed a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry with Medical Biochemistry, UMIST, and a PhD in molecular cell biology of misfolded protein diseases supervised by Prof. David Lomas, University of Cambridge. During his doctoral studies, he investigated the pathways by which protein misfolding contributes to human disease.

After foundation training at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge he was appointed an Academic Clinical Fellow in Cardiology, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. He undertook research in directed differentiation of human embryonic and inducible pluripotent stem cells to model inherited cardiac conditions.

He then subspecialised in cardiac electrophysiology and devices at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. After completing his training he undertook at fellowship at UCLA, Los Angeles with Prof Shiv Kumar and arrhythmia team. Here he gained expertise VT mapping and ablation strategies including hybrid surgical epi-endo VT ablation, neuro-cardiac autonomic innervation and advanced electroanatomic relationships to cardiac arrhythmias.
