Dr Broadhurst undertook his medical training in Sheffield and after junior medical and surgical post-graduate training in Sheffield, specialised in psychiatry. He gained his Certificate of Completion in Training in General Adult Psychiatry with an endorsement in liaison psychiatry. He has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist since 2007.
Dr Broadhurst carries out assessments to establish diagnosis, and to aid patients in gaining an understanding of their difficulties and the possible reasons for them. His approach follows the ‘bio psychosocial’ model which considers the impact of biological, psychological and sociological-environmental factors on mental well-being and the development of mental illness. He has a BSc (Hons) in Toxicology and Pharmacology and an interest in psychopharmacology. He works with psychologists and psychotherapists where specific psychological therapy is required.
