About Manjusha Rathi

Personal Profile

Dr Manjusha Rathi is a Consultant Physician in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Medicine at Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust.

She completed her specialist training in Diabetes & Endocrinology at Yorkshire Deanery, Leeds

She specialises in thyroid disease, reproductive endocrinology, pituitary disease, adrenal disorders, hirsutism, calcium and electrolyte disorders, osteoporosis, and insulin pump therapy.

She has a great passion for improving clinical services and has played an instrumental role in developing sub speciality services. She has been clinical governance lead for five years followed by clinical service lead for diabetes and endocrinology department for two years at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dr Rathi is actively involved in teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students and is a Royal College of Physicians accredited examiner for the MRCP (UK) PACES examination.

Dr Rathi is passionate about her field of expertise and her research has been presented at International Conferences in both Europe and the USA and continues to be widely cited in medical literature. She regularly reviews manuscript for publications, and she is a member of editorial board for four peer review journals.

Please note that Dr Rathi offers both face-to-face and remote consultations and is able to see patients aged 16 to 17.

Endocrinology:

  • Pituitary disease (Acromegaly, Cushing’s disease, Prolactin problems, diabetes insipidus, Growth Hormone replacement)
  • Thyroid Disorders including thyroid cancer, Adrenal Disorders, Addison’s disease
  • Reproductive Endocrinology (Endocrine causes of infertility) Hypogonadism (Testosterone Replacement Therapy), Erectile dysfunctions, Loss of libido, hormonal causes of menstrual irregularities, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Hormone Replacement Therapy. Excessive facial hair, Excessive sweating, Endocrine causes of weight gain and weight loss
  • Endocrine causes of Fatigue and Tiredness, Endocrine causes of electrolyte imbalance. Endocrine disorders during pregnancy and preconception counselling
  • Hormone replacement therapy

Diabetes:

  • Management of complex diabetes and complications, diabetes Kidney disease, neuropathy, Diabetic foot disease, erratic blood sugar management, diabetes education and self management. Insulin, new devices for glucose monitoring, dietary advice and hypoglycaemia management, Insulin pump therapy.

Lipids:

  • High Cholesterol, including familial hyperlipidaemia.

Osteoporosis & bone metabolism including Parathyroid (calcium) disorder
