Mr Magdy Nawar is a consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician based at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, and is the lead for minimal access (keyhole surgery) in the department.
He has more than 25 years of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology and has special skills accreditation in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery for treatment of fibroids, pelvic pain, endometriosis, infertility and menstrual disorders.
Mr Nawar has special expertise in the investigation and treatment of heavy and irregular periods. To investigate abnormal bleeding, including post-menopausal bleeding, he performs diagnostic hysteroscopy to visualise the inside of the womb.
Mr Nawar also offers Sonata at The Clementine Churchill Hospital. Sonata is an incisionless treatment clinically proven to reduce fibroid symptoms, including heavy menstrual bleeding. It treats fibroids from within the uterus, requiring no abdominal incisions and no tissue to be cut or surgically removed, preserving the uterus.
The procedure is typically performed in 15–60 minutes, depending on the number and size of fibroids, and involves a shorter hospital stay with a faster recovery compared with more invasive alternatives.
Mr Nawar believes in the importance of patient choice and offering a range of treatment options, empowering patients to reach suitable treatment decisions tailored for their needs.
He is committed to providing high quality care for all his patients and gives patients adequate time to understand the nature of their problems.
