Personal Profile

Miss Lucy Simmons is a highly regarded Consultant Urological Surgeon with a national profile in the management of prostate cancer. She is recognised for her work in minimally invasive therapies, particularly High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), offering advanced options for men seeking prostate-sparing treatment.

Lucy completed her medical training at Newcastle University and completed her early medical training in the Newcastle. Her early surgical training was undertaken in the South West – Bristol. Her specialist urology training was also completed through the South West UK. She undertook a training fellowship experience in prostate diagnostics and focal therapy at University College London. 

She was appointed as a Consultant Urologist at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, where she leads the South West regional Focal therapy service for prostate cancer and she is involved in national pathway development.

She has published and presented widely on focal therapy, MRI-targeted biopsy, and shared decision-making in prostate cancer care, and is an invited speaker at national urological conferences. She continues to play a key role in evaluating and implementing emerging technologies in the treatment of prostate cancer and 

Known for her clear, compassionate communication style, Lucy is committed to personalised, patient-led care. She works closely with patients to navigate complex decisions around prostate cancer treatment, ensuring that men receive the best evidence-based options for their goals and values.
