About Dr Lucia Pozo-Garcia

Dr Lucia Pozo-Garcia is a Consultant Dermatologist working at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, with a private practice at The London Independent Hospital. She has been included at the General Medical Council Specialist Register as a Dermatologist in the UK since 2005.
Dr Pozo-Garcia has been working in Dermatology for more than 20 years. She specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions. Her main fields of interest and expertise are skin cancer and pigmented lesions (mole checking under dermoscopy), but she also greatly enjoys General Dermatology and helping patients with their dermatological queries conditions, including but not limited to acne, eczema, psoriasis and cutaneous infections.
Dr Pozo-Garcia, MD, PhD, qualified from the University of Cádiz (Spain) in 1990 and undertook postgraduate dermatologist training in Seville (Spain) in 1995. During her training post, she was awarded with a clinical fellowship in Paediatric Dermatology in a prestigious paediatrict-dedicated hospital in Madrid (Hospital del Niño Jesus). In 1996, she completed her PhD thesis on sweat gland tumours.
Dr Pozo-Garcia came to the UK, joining her husband in 1998. She worked as Consultant Dermatologist at Homerton University Hospital in London, for 17 years. She later moved to the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust in 2015, where she continues to be actively involved in the delivery of skin cancer services.
She has completed several courses on dermoscopy and enjoys teaching this technique to dermatology trainees and GPs.
She is also actively involved in research with more than 50 publications, a Ph.D. degree and two book chapters.
