About Lisa Appleby

Personal Profile

Lisa completed a degree in Physiotherapy from The University of Teesside in 2006. Clinically, she has over 18 years’ experience in both the NHS and private sector. She gained all of her core physiotherapy specialities at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust where she worked for 8 years, before moving to the private sector.

Since starting at Woodlands Hospital, her focus has been split between a busy orthopaedic ward and outpatients. Lisa's ward work requires her to work closely with orthopaedic consultants, following rehabilitation protocols for various post-operative procedures. Her outpatient work requires her to treat various musculoskeletal problems, helping patients gain maximum function, enabling them to successfully return to their sporting activities.

Lisa has continued with her post-graduate education and is committed to her ongoing CPD by attending various recognised coursed. Here, she concentrates mostly on musculoskeletal (MSK) as this is her main area of interest. She very much enjoys working in MSK and has a keen interest and experience in strength and conditioning.

Lisa has attended courses such as:

  • Unravelling Strength and Conditioning for Therapists with Andrew McCauley
  • Integrating Strength and Conditioning into Injury Rehabilitation with Nick Grantham
  • Strength and Conditioning for Therapists with Dr Claire Minshull
  • Strong Lifting: Level 1 with Bret Contreras
