About Kyi Toe

Personal Profile

Mr Kyi Toe qualified from Medical College in Yangon, Myanmar, Burma in 1986 where he also trained as a general surgeon. Mr Toe achieved a masters degree in general surgery in 1994 and gained a consultant post in Yangon.

In 2009 he completed his fellowship examinations with the Royal College of Surgeons in General Surgery. After completing his training Mr Toe became a consultant surgeon in Milton Keynes in 2012, specialising in general, laparoscopic and day case surgery. His broad experience includes both elective and emergency general surgery. Mr Toe has performed large numbers of hernia and gallbladder procedures with specialist expertise and skill in laparoscopic inguinal, incisional and other abdominal hernias, including complex recurrent cases. In addition to his clinical commitments, Mr Toe is heavily involved with surgical training.

He has been a faculty trainer in laparoscopic cholecystectomy for advanced theatre nurse practitioners and has run a course in inguinal hernia repair under local anaesthetics for surgeons. Moreover he has held the role of educational and clinical supervisor and enhanced appraiser for junior doctors training at the Oxford Deanery. Mr Toe has held the position of lead surgeon for the emergency surgery service in Milton Keynes University Hospital since 2014 and he is helping to drive more efficiency in this area.

Mr Toe is a very experienced and highly skilled surgeon who provides personalised treatment, carefully tailored to the individual’s needs and ensuring that his patients receive the best and most suitable care necessary. Mr Toe’s conversion to open surgery rate is extremely low and day case rates are high. His person centred approach to care means that in laparoscopic gall bladder surgery, he has a conversion to open surgery rate of just 2% following treatment, compared with 5% nationally.
