Personal Profile

Ms Sigamoney qualified from University of Leicester in 2008. She developed an interest in trauma during her Foundation training and went on to pursue a career in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery. She did her Higher Specialty Training in the North West (East Sector) Deanery (UK). Prior to Higher Specialty Training, She developed an interest in Hand & Wrist Surgery when working in The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough. 

She later pursued the subspecialty and was selected for the Training Interphase Fellowship (TIG) 2022 at Wrightington Hospital, Whiston Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. She completed this in 2024 and started her current position as Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic (Hand & Wrist) Surgeon at North Manchester General Hospital (Manchester Foundation Trust). She has a broad practice in general trauma as well as more specialised hand & wrist cases with a special interest in trauma, the use of 3D planning in surgery, arthritis and arthroplasty, Dupuytren’s surgery and hand & wrist reconstructions.

She also has an interest in research, teaching and overseas work. She very often combines her interests to hold events. She supervises medical students as well and resident doctors. She is currently the principle investigator (PI) for the Surgery versus Conservative OsteOarthritis of Thumb Trial (SCOOTT) for Manchester FoundationTrust.

She is the Royal College of Surgeons Tutor for North Manchester General Hospital and a Bristish Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Global Partnership Committee member. She has an interest in equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in relation to improving our working environment and patient care and was previously the British Orthopaedic Association Culture and Diversity Champion for the North West. She has recently been selected as the BSSH Equity, Diversity and Inclusion lead.
