Mr Chan completed his fellowship in upper limb surgery in the North East of England as part of the BOA National Clinical Leadership Programme. He also completed a busy lower limb arthroplasty job at Woodend hospital, Aberdeen. Mr Kim Chan was appointed Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in NHS Lanarkshire in July 2018.
He is committed to education at all levels including undergraduate, higher surgical and postgraduate training. Mr Chan was an author for the hand viva chapter for the postgraduate orthopaedics series.
Mr Chan carries out his practice within numerous NHS Lanarkshire hospitals - Wishaw, Monklands and Hairmyres, as well as his private practice at Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow.
Mr Chan's main elective practice involves upper limb surgery, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand surgery. His trauma involvement includes complex upper and lower limb surgery and general orthopaedic trauma, including reconstruction. He performs a majority of cases as day case procedures, which means patient can go home on the same day when it is appropriate, without needing to stay overnight in the hospital. He provides the full spectrum of treatment for upper limb conditions, ranging from simple injection therapy to arthroscopic keyhole surgery and complex open surgery.
Mr Chan also performs hip replacement surgery.
