Personal Profile

Dr. Keefai Yeong is the consultant physician specialising in orthogeriatric medicine. His specialist areas include: management of Falls including multifactorial assessments, bone health & osteoporosis (brittle bones) for fracture prevention, and Parkinson’s disease. He works very closely with the orthopaedic surgeons and experienced therapists to optimise patients prior to theatre, manage patients in the peri-operative phase by providing regular medical input and also in the post-operative phase to restore to previous level of independence.

Keefai qualified from Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London and completed his postgraduate training locally within the Kent, Surrey and Sussex region. In addition to this, he has trained in various sub specialist units including the Renal Unit at the Middlesex and the Royal Marsden Hospitals. He provides a level of care that has been recognised nationally as one of the best and has one of the lowest mortality rates for this group of frail elderly patients. His team were runners up in the 12014 BMJ Clinical Leadership Award for hip fracture care.

He has also won the prestigious HSJ award in 2012 for managing Long term Conditions for work within Nursing Homes, as well as being Highly Commended in the 2013 Care Integration Award for his work in falls prevention.
