About Mr Kawan Shalli

Personal Profile

Mr Kawan Shalli qualified from the University of Salahadin in 1990 and completed basic surgical training in Erbil before moving to the UK and continuing further surgical training in the West of Scotland.

He completed his advanced higher surgical training and research at Grampian University Hospital in Aberdeen and was appointed Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon at University Hospital Wishaw since 2011, and has been Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Glasgow.

Mr Shalli has been presented with numerous awards and prizes throughout his career, having published 53 abstracts and papers in peer reviewed journals. He has presented his work at 69 International & National meetings and has been an invited keynote speaker in 5 international conferences. He has gained Membership of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers in recognition of his commitment to training.

He has also accomplished ESME certification in medical education for his regular involvement of teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has supervised MSc students from University of Edinburgh and University of Hull.

Mr Shalli is an Examiner of the Royal college of Surgeons and Lead Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, whilst he is also faculty for numerous other courses.
