About Kate Berman

Personal Profile

Kate qualified in 2008 from Oxford Brookes University, graduating with a First-Class Honours degree in Physiotherapy. Since qualifying, she has built extensive clinical experience across a range of NHS roles, including work in large London teaching hospitals. This has given her a broad understanding of physiotherapy across multiple clinical settings, including experience within GP surgery environments.

In 2019, Kate joined The Chiltern Hospital, where she currently manages a varied caseload. Her work includes the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, and oncology-related conditions. She is experienced in supporting patients through recovery, helping them improve movement, reduce pain, and regain confidence in their daily activities.

Kate has a particular interest in oncology rehabilitation, supporting individuals recovering from cancer treatment. In 2020, she completed the PINC Cancer Rehabilitation certification, enabling her to deliver specialist, individualised rehabilitation programmes for women affected by cancer. Her approach focuses on restoring strength, function, and wellbeing during and after treatment.

She also specialises in scar rehabilitation, having completed the Sharon Wheeler Scar Work course. This advanced training allows her to treat both new and long-standing scar tissue from a wide range of surgical procedures, including oncology-related surgery. Her aim is to improve tissue mobility, comfort, and function, while supporting overall recovery.

Kate combines hands-on manual therapy and massage techniques with tailored exercise programmes designed around each patient’s needs. She believes that effective rehabilitation should be personalised, progressive, and focused on long-term results.

She is also a qualified Pilates instructor, having completed the APPI Pilates certification. She often integrates Pilates-based rehabilitation and yoga-inspired movement principles into her physiotherapy practice. This helps patients improve strength, posture, flexibility, and body awareness, supporting a more active role in their recovery.

Kate is passionate about empowering patients to take control of their rehabilitation journey. Her goal is to help each individual achieve their full recovery potential through evidence-based treatment, education, and ongoing support.
