I am an experienced General Practitioner who has worked in the NHS since 2007. Over many years in practice, I have cared for patients of all ages with a wide range of health concerns, from acute illness to complex long term conditions. This experience has strengthened my diagnostic skills and reinforced the importance of providing safe, thorough and compassionate care.
In private practice, I offer patients a more personalised approach with time to listen carefully, explore concerns in detail and develop clear, tailored management plans. I place great importance on continuity of care and building trusted, long term doctor patient relationships.
I have a particular interest in diabetes and metabolic health. I have worked extensively in diabetes management both in General Practice and as a GP with a Special Interest, supporting patients in community services for a local NHS Trust. I care for patients with Type 2 and stable type 1 diabetes, including insulin initiation and adjustment, optimisation of medication including weight management injections, and management of diabetes related complications. My approach is structured but patient centred, focusing on education, shared decision making and helping patients feel confident in managing their condition.
I am also interested in preventative medicine, including reducing metabolic risk, supporting lifestyle change and intervening early to help prevent long term complications. I offer evidence based support for weight management, taking into account medical, psychological and lifestyle factors.
I have extensive experience in assessing and managing common musculoskeletal problems. I regularly perform joint and soft tissue injections where appropriate, including treatment for shoulder pain, tennis and golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, finger joint problems and knee conditions. I also carry out aspiration and drainage of bursitis affecting the elbow and knee. Where possible, I aim to provide timely assessment and treatment to help patients return to normal activity comfortably and safely.
Clear communication is central to my practice. I understand that medical concerns can feel worrying or overwhelming, and I take care to explain diagnoses, investigations and treatment options in a way that is straightforward and easy to understand. I encourage questions and shared decision making so that patients feel informed and involved in their care.
I have a strong grounding in clinical governance, safeguarding and ethical practice. Alongside my clinical work, I have worked as a performance reviewer for an NHS Trust, helping to ensure high standards of safety and quality in GP services. I am meticulous in my record keeping and fully committed to confidentiality and data protection.
I have experience teaching and supervising GP trainees and medical students, and I work closely with nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care. I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly undertake appraisal and continuing education to ensure my practice remains current and aligned with best evidence.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy travel, walking, cricket and badminton. Maintaining an active lifestyle helps me appreciate the importance of physical activity and overall wellbeing, principles I encourage in my patients.
