About Dr Kamran Ala

Personal Profile

Dr Kamran Ala is a consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician. He qualified from University College London in 2011 with degrees in Medicine and Physiology. He received a certificate of merit for his MBBS finals.

Since graduating, he has worked in London and Wessex. He completed his higher gastroenterology training in the Wessex region spending some time at King's Liver institute, During his specialist training, he developed an interest in the management of complex liver disease including transplantation, gallstone disease, therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy and pancreatic medicine. He has an interest in the management of Obesity and Obesity related liver disease.

In 2020 Dr Ala was appointed as an NHS consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician in Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust HHFT. He manages patients with liver disease including those pre- & post transplant, endoscopic management of gallstones, pancreatic medicine, therapeutic endoscopy including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), dilatation, hollow organ stenting and general luminal gastroenterology.

He is proficient in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tracts, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy including polypectomy and ERCP.

He is actively involved in clinical research and is the Gastroenterology training lead for the trust and Upper gastrointestinal cancer lead.

He is keen to offer patients a balanced opinion integrating all aspects of a patient’s situation into his management.
