About Mr Joshua Pilling

Personal Profile

Mr Pilling is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with sub-specialist interests in glaucoma and cataract surgery at The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate.

He qualified from Liverpool Medical School in 2011 and completed foundation training in the Mersey Deanery before moving to Yorkshire. Here, he completed Ophthalmic Specialist Training.

Mr Pilling received sub-specialist glaucoma training in Leeds, York and Harrogate and subsequently completed a fellowship in Glaucoma in Sheffield. He was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Harrogate District Foundation Trust in 2021. He has carried out over 1,000 cataract operations and regularly performs cataract surgery in complex cases, particularly when associated with glaucoma. Despite this, his complication rate remains well below the national standard.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his young family and walking his dog. He enjoys playing tennis and skiing when he gets chance in the winter months.
