Personal Profile

Mr Jonathan Pollock qualified from Oxford University Medical School in 1990 following undergraduate training at Cambridge University. He was appointed as consultant neurosurgeon at Essex Neurosciences Centre in 2002. His spinal work is focussed on degenerative disorders in adults, especially the surgical and non-surgical management of neurological symptoms associated with spinal disorders such as brachalgia (arm pain) and sciatica (lower limb pain) resulting from degenerative disease.

When surgery is required Mr Pollock places the emphasis on preserving motion in the spine and reducing the patient's time in hospital to the minimum. He works closely with an excellent group of colleagues in physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic, primary care, rheumatology and anaesthetics to achieve the best pain relief possible.

Jonathan Pollock's intracranial interests include cerebral (brain) tumours including meningioma, glioma, pituitary and acoustic tumours. He has a meningioma series of over 500 operated cases . He also treats trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm, and hydrocephalus
