About Dr Jonathan North

Personal Profile

Dr Jonathan North entered Immunology as a registrar in 1984 at the John Radcliffe and Churchill hospitals in Oxford. Three years were subsequently spent at the Tenovus Centre in Southampton obtaining a DM in stem cell transplantation and myeloma. Further training in Immunodeficiency and Allergy was undertaken at the then Dudley Road Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI). 

At the LRI Dr North undertook research into complement, particularly C1 inhibitor deficiency. In 1997 he was appointed as a consultant Immunologist at City Hospital and the National Blood Service in Birmingham before before full time at City Hospital. There the Immunology laboratory was developed and became one of the first in the UK to offer IgE component testing. The majority of his current work load is adult allergies. Please note Dr North is unable to accept referrals for Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and is unable to offer testing to Covid vaccines to screen for allergy.
