About Mr John Wright

Personal Profile

Mr John Wright is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in treating elective and traumatic conditions of the upper limb.

He qualified from Sheffield University in 1993 and continued to complete his higher surgical training in the Sheffield region. He has completed specialist Fellowships in Hand and Wrist Surgery in Sheffield and Nottingham in 2005, as well as a visiting Fellowship at The Mayo Clinic in America.

He was appointed to a Consultant NHS post at Chesterfield Royal Hospital in 2009.

Mr Wright is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield, having a keen interest in education. He teaches medical students as well as training junior doctors. He has authored the chapter for Peripheral Nerve Examination in ‘Examination Techniques in Orthopaedics’, which is a best-selling orthopaedic text, acting as Executive Advisor to the related Sheffield Chesterfield FRCS clinical course. He is a member of the Question Writing Committee for the FRCS(Tr&Orth) National Clinic examination.
