About Dr John Goodfellow

Personal Profile

Dr Goodfellow qualified in medicine from the University of Oxford in 2009. He completed specialist neurology training in 2019 and has been a Consultant Neurologist at the Institute of Neurological Sciences in Glasgow since then. 

He sees and treats people with a full range of neurological problems in his general neurology clinic. In addition he has special expertise in autoimmune conditions of the nervous system. He has a research scientist background, with a PhD in Neuroimmunology, and is the Clinical Director of the diagnostic neuroimmunology laboratory at the QEUH where his team provide diagnostic assays and clinical advice to clinicians across the UK and internationally.

He provides care to a large number of people with myasthenia gravis as well as those with other autoimmune disorders and has been providing neurological input into the CAR-T therapy service in Scotland since it began in 2020.

In addition he is Principle Investigator and UK Chief Investigator on a number of neurology related clinical trials, both within the NHS and within the private clinical trial sector.
