Dr Joanne Ridpath is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician at The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate. She specialises in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of digestive system conditionsnd has extensive experience in gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Dr Ridpath qualified from the University of Southampton in 1991. She completed her House Officer posts in Southampton and Exeter between 1992 and 1993, before undertaking further medical training as a Senior House Officer in Leeds from 1993 to 1996.

In 1996, Dr Ridpath began her specialist registrar training with the Yorkshire Deanery, continuing until 2003. She was subsequently appointed Consultant at Harrogate District Hospital in 2003, where she has continued to develop her expertise in gastroenterology and general medicine.

Her clinical practice encompasses a range of gastrointestinal conditions, with a particular interest in liver disease, colorectal disorders and endoscopic investigations of the upper and lower digestive tract.

Dr Ridpath’s clinical interests include:

• Hepatology: Assessment and management of liver conditions and diseases.
• Colorectal disease: Investigation and treatment of conditions affecting the colon and rectum.
• Upper gastrointestinal disease: Endoscopic investigation and assessment of conditions affecting the oesophagus, stomach and upper digestive tract.
• Lower gastrointestinal disease: Investigation and management of conditions affecting the lower digestive system.
• Colonoscopy: Lower gastrointestinal endoscopy to examine the colon and help investigate digestive symptoms and bowel conditions.

Dr Ridpath provides specialist gastroenterology consultations and diagnostic services for patients with a range of digestive and gastrointestinal concerns.
