Mr. Jitesh Parmar is an esteemed Consultant General Surgeon with a particular expertise in weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery) and a wealth of experience in managing various abdominal conditions. With expertise in laparoscopic surgery, Mr. Parmar performs a range of procedures including sleeve gastrectomy, Roux N Y Gastric bypass, mini gastric bypass, gastric band removals, cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), anti-reflux surgery (fundoplication and hiatus hernia repair), and abdominal wall hernia (inguinal, umbilical, femoral, incisional hernia) repairs.
Throughout his career, Mr. Parmar has completed over 2,500 general surgical operations, including a significant number of laparoscopic cholecystectomies (1000 +), anti-reflux surgeries, and hernia repairs. He has also performed approximately 600 weight loss surgeries, primarily laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass procedures, as well as gastric band removals as well as revisional bariatric surgery.
Mr. Parmar's expertise in bariatric surgery was further enhanced through prestigious post-CCT Fellowships at St George Hospital in Sydney, Australia, and Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, UK. At St George Hospital, he trained under renowned bariatric surgeons, Dr. Michael Talbot and Dr. Ken Loi, consolidating his experience in bariatric surgery.
He has held positions as a Locum Consultant UGI and Bariatric Surgeon at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust before securing a substantive position as a Consultant UGI and Bariatric Surgeon at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, and Walsall Manor Hospital, Walsall. He actively contributes to the Black Country Collaborative for Bariatric Surgery and served as the Clinical Governance Lead at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton. He has currently undertaken role as Medical Appraiser at New Cross Hospital since Aug 2026.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Parmar is involved in several Quality Improvement Projects at New Cross Hospital, including advocating for Robotic UGI Services. He is also a key member of the Black Country Bariatric Collaborative and is contributing towards ongoing reshaping of Bariatric services at Walsall Manor Hospital as a part of Black Country Bariatric Collaborative.
Mr. Parmar holds an MD (Doctor of Medicine) in Basic Science and Vascular Surgery and has published extensively in peer-reviewed surgical journals. He is a sought-after presenter at national and international surgical conferences, where he shares his expertise and research findings with fellow professionals.
