Mr Jim Brousil: Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Specialising in Foot and Ankle Surgery

Mr Jim Brousil is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with expertise in Foot and Ankle Surgery, limb reconstruction and deformity correction.

He qualified from Nottingham University Medical School in 2005 and then went onto to higher surgical training in Nottingham, Derby and Chesterfield. As a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, he joined the General Medical Council Specialist Register in 2016. His Foot and Ankle Fellowship was at Addnebrooke's in Cambridge with Fred 'the Foot' Robinson. He is also fellowship trained in Adult and Paediatric limb reconstruction (Northern General Hospital and Sheffield Children's Hospital).

International Experience and Contributions

Mr Brousil has been awarded visiting fellowships from the British Medical Association, the Royal College of Surgeons, and the British Orthopaedic Association, enabling him to gain invaluable experience across the globe. He has trained at renowned institutions in Seattle, Boston, West Palm Beach, and Sydney. This experience has enhanced his expertise in advanced surgical techniques such as complex congenital deformity correction, post traumatic reconstruction and direct skeletal osseointegration. An accomplished academic, Mr Brousil has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and contributed to two orthopaedic textbooks currently utilised in medical education. He has edited and reviewed for the British Medical Journal and The Bone and Joint Journal.

Commitment to Teaching and Leadership

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Brousil is passionate about teaching and plays a significant role in higher Orthopaedic Training at local, national, and international levels. He actively lectures on various courses and serves as co-chair of the National Flat Foot Steering Committee. He is Chair of the Reading Committee for the British Society for Children's Orthopaedics.

His personal interests include rugby, classic land rovers and gardening. He is married with two small children, who are very noisy but great fun.
