About Mr Jaysheel Mehta

Personal Profile

Mr Mehta qualified from Gujarat University, India in 1984. His post-graduate orthopaedic training and qualification leading to MS(Ortho) was from B J Medical College and Civil Hospital Ahmedabad, India. 

He obtained his post-graduate qualification in 1988. In the UK, he worked in the North West region and trained at prestigious hospitals, including Wrightington Hospital. 

He obtained MCh (Orth) degree from Uni of Liverpool in 1995. He then went to North Carolina, USA for his Foot & Ankle fellowship and visited reputed centres to learn the finer techniques in foot and ankle surgery.

He has been working as a specialist foot and ankle surgeon in Manchester since 2006 and undertakes a large number of foot and ankle procedures in both his NHS and private practice. These include forefoot procedures for bunions and hammertoes, Morton’s neuromas and fusions of the toes.

He also does a variety of midfoot and hindfoot surgeries related to arthritis, flatfoot and tendon dysfunctions. He has keen interest in arthroscopic surgeries of the ankle and sports injury related treatment for foot and ankle. He works closely with orthotists, podiatrists and physiotherapists in his practice.

Mr Mehta is also the training programme director (TPD) for Trauma & Orthopaedic Training in the North West of England, and closely works with HEE NW (East Sector). He has a keen interest in training and education, and has been a national and international examiner for FRCS (T&O) exam for the last 10 years. 

As a TPD, he is responsible for training and quality control of the orthopaedic training programme in the North West of England.
