Mr Muglu is a Lead Consultant in Gynaecological Oncology and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon in Gynaecology at University Hospital Lewisham. Mr Muglu has a specialist interest in cancer prevention and screening, which is complemented with his advanced surgical skills for operative treatments. He has a particular special interest in early identification of gynaecological cancers and established ‘One Stop services’ in NHS base Hospital, running same appointment gynaecological scan and biopsy clinics. His other areas of interest are laparoscopic excisional surgical treatment of endometriosis, and reproductive health in peri-menopausal and post-menopausal women.
Mr Muglu was awarded Membership by Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London in 2013, and Fellowship by American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2019. He completed his basic medical education and training from Kashmir and moved to UK for specialist training. He trained in Gynaecological Oncology in Barts Cancer Centre, London and Royal London Hospital to become an RCOG accredited specialist in Gynaecological Oncology and General Gynaecology. He gained outstanding skills as a gynaecological surgeon developing expertise in laparoscopic and open surgery for benign gynaecological conditions and gynaecological cancers.
Mr Muglu was previously Clinical Director for Gynaecological Services in Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and currently holds few national and regional roles involved in improving standards of gynaecological practice. Mr Muglu is Gynaecological Chair of Southeast London Cancer Alliance (SELCA) and Chair of Non-admitted stream of Gynaecology for Acute Provide Collaborative Southeast London (SEL APC), mainly driving the changes to improve gynaecological services in the region. Mr Muglu is also a part of prestigious Council of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists representing South London.
Mr Muglu frequently speaks at national and international conferences, having published and led clinical research in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology, including a high impact research work in stillbirths. He has led multiple research articles and peer reviewed research work, earning recognition through several publications. Mr Muglu is a well-regarded mentor for many consultant colleagues, who benefit in furthering their gynaecological surgical skills under his mentorship. Mr Muglu enjoys being a passionate medical educator and is notably involved in training and teaching of junior doctors. Mr Muglu is exclusively known for his pleasant, kind and welcoming demeanour with his colleagues and patients, who always hold him in high esteem.
