He specialises in breast cancer surgery with special interest in lumpectomies combined with breast reduction (therapeutic mammoplasty-breast reduction for cancer), sentinel lymph node biopsy, nipple sparing mastectomies, immediate pre-pectoral and sub-pectoral reconstruction using acellular dermal matrix (e.g. Braxon, Surgimend, Strattice) and lattisimus dorsi breast reconstructions.
He also specialises in breast reduction, augmentation and mastopexy (breast uplift) and treating developmental breast anomalies, and performs nipple reconstruction, areolar tattooing and lipomodelling.
He has treated over 1,000 breast cancer patients and performed more than 200 breast reconstruction, reductions and augmentations in both his NHS and private practice.
Mr Kokan is the Principal Investigator for international breast cancer clinical trials at Macclesfield District General Hospital. He is the lead breast reconstructive surgeon at MDGH, as well as the Surgical Lead for screen detected breast cancers.
He is also Senior Clinical Advisor in Breast Surgery to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.
