About Dr Irfan Zafar

Personal Profile

Dr Zafar is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner with over 15 years’ experience in UK primary care, committed to delivering holistic, patient-centred care. After graduation from King Edward Medical College, Pakistan, in 2001, he moved to England in 2003, gained four years’ experience of managing patients across a wide range of medical specialties before entering GP training in Scotland, and qualifying as a GP in 2010.
After one year working as a GP in Manchester, Dr Zafar joined a large practice in Morecambe Bay as a partner, where he has been a key member of the team since, contributing to high-quality, community-focused primary care.

He has extensive experience managing the full spectrum of primary care presentations including acute illness, minor illnesses and chronic disease management. His clinical interests include cardiovascular disease, mental health, men’s health, musculoskeletal, palliative care and driving medicals. He is an accreditation for minor surgery through royal college of general practitioners.  He believes in empathetic approach, with a strong emphasis on continuity of care and shared decision-making, for patients well being 

Along with being a clinician, he is also involved in clinical training of post graduate training for junior doctors to help them progress through their career.
