About Ian Roderick Gee

Personal Profile

Dr Gee is an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist specialising in the diagnosis, investigation, and treatment of a wide range of digestive and liver-related conditions. With many years of clinical experience, he has developed extensive expertise in gastroenterology, hepatobiliary disease, and advanced endoscopy procedures, helping patients receive accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.

Dr Gee qualified in Medicine from the University of Leicester in 1993. Following his medical training, he was appointed as a Specialist Registrar in Leicester in 1997, where he completed his higher specialist training in gastroenterology and general medicine. During this time, he gained comprehensive experience in managing complex gastrointestinal and liver conditions while developing his specialist skills.

As part of his continued professional development, Dr Gee undertook two years of research into liver disease at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. His research contributed to his understanding of hepatobiliary conditions and led to the completion of his MD. Following this period of academic and clinical development, he returned to Leicester to complete his specialist training in gastroenterology.

After completing his training, Dr Gee worked as a Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology and Acute Medicine in Leicester before being appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in 2005. Since then, he has continued to provide specialist care for patients with a wide range of digestive and liver conditions.

Dr Gee’s clinical practice includes the assessment and management of conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and biliary system. He supports patients with both common and complex conditions, providing specialist advice, investigations, and treatment options tailored to each individual.

He has particular expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, including:

  • Gastroscopy
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)

These procedures play an important role in diagnosing and treating a variety of gastrointestinal conditions, allowing patients to receive timely and appropriate care.

Dr Gee is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based medicine while ensuring patients feel informed and supported throughout their treatment journey. He believes in taking the time to understand each patient’s concerns, explaining diagnoses clearly, and working together to develop the most appropriate management plan.
