About Ian James Hart

Personal Profile

Dr Ian Hart qualified from the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London in 1994.

Whilst training as an Anaesthetist in the South East of England he was inspired to develop his interest and skills in the field of Pain Management. His extensive training in Pain Management included time at St Bartholomew’s Hospital London, and in the South West of England in Plymouth and Truro. He joined the Pain Management Team at Ashford and St Peter’s Foundation NHS Trust in 2004 as a Consultant in Pain Management and Anaesthetics.

His passion for training led to the unit being recognised for Training of Advanced Pain Trainees from 2007 onwards. Since 2008 he has led the multidisciplinary team through times of challenge, change, and significant expansion.

Clinically, his focus is on improving pain and wellbeing for his patients by applying the full range of modern approaches to the management of pain. Having such a broad range of techniques to call upon is particularly useful in the field of Pain Management, where one approach alone is often not enough. Approaches include ultrasound and x-ray guided injections and radiofrequency denervation procedures.
