About Mr Ian Comaish

Personal Profile

Ian Comaish is an experienced ophthalmic surgeon, specialising in small incision phacoemulsification cataract surgery, eyelid surgery and external eye diseases.

Ian studied medicine at Cambridge University as an undergraduate, finding time to obtain a degree in the History of Art, before going on to read Clinical Medicine at Oxford University.

After finishing basic and higher surgical training in ophthalmology, he underwent fellowships in both oculoplastic surgery, from the UK, and corneal surgery, from Sydney, Australia.  He has practised as a consultant ophthalmic surgeon in the UK, New Zealand and Australia. 

Ian has performed many thousands of successful cataract surgeries.  He fully understands the increased quality of life better vision can bring and the opportunities to maintain an active lifestyle.

Ian enjoys running, cycling and sailing. He has a diploma in yacht design from The Landing School, in Maine, USA
