About Mr Ian Dunn

Personal Profile

Having trained in the West of Scotland for the majority of his career, Mr Ian Dunn spent his final year in Australia, attached to the New South Wales training programme.

This was to consolidate his surgical training in a busy teaching unit, where he was also able to learn laparoscopic (keyhole) kidney surgery, which was unavailable in the West of Scotland at that time.

Mr Ian Dunn was appointed to the position of Consultant Urological Surgeon in NHS Lanarkshire in 2004. Here he has established a laparoscopic surgical service. He has also developed services such as local anaesthetic circumcision, and self-catheterisation for urinary retention. Mr Dunn keeps a log book of all his major surgical procedures so that he can measure his performance with audit.

During his training and consultant career he has published several scientific papers, and made presentations at national meetings. He is currently the honorary Secretary of the Scottish Urology Society, and the urology representative on the West of Scotland core surgical training committee. He is a UK deputy representative to the International Society of Urology, and played an active part in the successful bid to host the 2014 international conference in Glasgow.

Mr Dunn does not offer sperm harvesting at the time of a vasectomy reversal.
