Professor Hisham Mehanna is a distinguished head and neck, thyroid, and ear, nose, and throat surgeon of international acclaim. He is the Chair of Head and Neck Surgery and Director of the esteemed Institute of Head and Neck Studies and Education (InHANSE) at the University of Birmingham and University Hospitals Birmingham in November 2012. Prior to this, he served as a consultant specialist at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire and the Birmingham Heart of England Foundation Trust from 2004 to 2012.
Professor Mehanna has garnered numerous accolades, delivered prestigious lectures, held visiting professorships, and occupied esteemed positions. He has been elected as a Fellow of the esteemed Academy of Medical Sciences. He currently serves as the President of the Head and Neck Cancer International Group, a collaborative synergy of 20 national groups spanning the globe. Notably, he also previously held the position of President of the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists, the leading multidisciplinary professional organization for head and neck clinicians in the UK.
