He has performed complex surgeries and managed both emergency and routine urology patients. His sub-specialisation in Urology/Urological surgery was in Limerick and Dublin, Ireland under the leading Urologists and Urological Surgeons in Ireland.
This training imparted an extensive experience in core and specialised urology, including urological cancer management in the tertiary referral hospitals in Dublin. Mr Varadaraj passed the examinations and was awarded the "Fellow of European Board of Urology" in 2007.
The last year of his training in Urology was in laparoscopic (keyhole) urological surgery for cancer and non-cancer conditions. Mr Varadaraj has worked as a Consultant Urologist (Locum) in the United Lincolnshire Health Trust (ULHT) from 2009 and was appointed to a substantive (permanent) Consultant position in August 2010.
With special interest in pelvic uro-oncology, Mr Varadaraj performs the majority of the Radical Cystectomy (removal of urinary bladder for specific types of bladder cancer) with ileal conduit diversion of urine at Lincoln County Hospital. He performs keyhole surgery to remove kidney cancer (Laparoscopic Nephrectomy).
In addition, he provides general urology services which includes TURP - prostate operation for BPH, circumcision, vasectomy, scrotal surgery for hydrocele and epididymal cysts, incontinence service and lower urinary tract symptoms.
