Dr Wamil combines clinical cardiology with academic research and brings a modern, preventative approach to heart health. Her practice focuses on identifying risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol abnormalities and obesity, and translating these into practical strategies that reduce long-term risk of heart diseases.
She sees patients with symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations and fatigue, as well as individuals seeking cardiovascular screening or a comprehensive heart health assessment. Many of her patients come for reassurance, second opinions, or advanced imaging investigations to clarify a diagnosis.
Dr Wamil believes that good cardiology care begins with careful listening and clear explanations. She takes time to understand each patient’s concerns and provides tailored investigations and treatment plans designed around their individual risk profile and lifestyle.
Dr Wamil offers a unique combination of preventive cardiology expertise, advanced imaging knowledge and academic research experience. Her approach focuses on early detection of heart disease and personalised prevention strategies.
Patients can expect a detailed and structured consultation that includes careful assessment of symptoms, cardiovascular risk factors and lifestyle influences. She explains results in clear and accessible language and works collaboratively with patients to develop treatment plans that are practical and sustainable. Her aim is not only to treat existing heart disease but also to prevent future problems through early diagnosis and proactive risk management.
Dr Wamil has particular expertise in:
• Preventive cardiology and cardiovascular risk reduction
• Assessment and management of hypertension, cholesterol disorders and diabetes-related cardiovascular risk
• Non-invasive screening for coronary artery disease
• Chest pain assessment and investigation
• Non-invasive cardiac imaging including echocardiography, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI
• Heart failure and inherited cardiomyopathy diagnosis and management including genetic testing
• Women’s cardiovascular health
• Diabetes and obesity-related heart disease
• Comprehensive cardiovascular health checks
She has extensive experience using advanced non-invasive imaging to diagnose heart conditions without the need for invasive procedures. This allows many patients to obtain a clear diagnosis and treatment plan quickly and safely.
Cardiovascular disease often requires input from different specialists. Dr Wamil works closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes interventional cardiologists, surgeons and specialist nurses. This collaborative approach ensures that patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care when complex treatment decisions are required.
Dr Wamil trained in cardiology at the Oxford University Hospitals (2008-2017). She completed MSc and PhD in Cardiovascular Science at the University of Edinburgh in 2008 and an MSc in Clinical Trials at the University of Oxford in 2024. Her research interests include cardiovascular imaging, cardiometabolic disease and mechanisms linking diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Women’s heart health
Dr Wamil has a particular interest in cardiovascular disease in women. Heart disease remains underdiagnosed and undertreated in women, partly because symptoms can present differently from those seen in men.
She works to improve awareness and diagnosis of heart disease in women and provides careful evaluation of symptoms.
During a consultation, Dr Wamil performs a detailed review of symptoms, medical history and cardiovascular risk factors. When appropriate, she may recommend tests such as echocardiography, CT coronary angiography or cardiac MRI to provide a comprehensive assessment of heart structure and function.
Her goal is to give patients a clear understanding of their heart health and a personalised plan to improve it.
